“We have had a busy season so far and are looking forward to the rest of the year.  For a recent competition the girls had a choreographer over from the USA California Allstars to help with their routine.  They enjoyed every minute of their choreography camp with the former world-champion coach.  They performed at a photography studio opening event and have had a couple of appearances in the local papers for their BCA grand champions success.  The girls love wearing their hair in Curlformers and look stunning at competition.  The coaches, including myself, could not have been happier with the clean and finished look the Curlformers created for our team!”

In this simple step-by-step we show you how easy it is to apply Curlformers to your own hair and the variety of styles you can create using the Long and Extra Wide Curlformers.  Apply to damp, freshly washed hair and leave to dry or use an inflatable hood attachment.   Allow to cool and remove Curlformers to reveal soft loose waves, which you can gently brush through to give you more volume.

We’re really excited to be able to share our latest demo-videos with you.  In this first one, top stylist and owner of Electric Hairdressing Mark Woolley, shows you how easy it is to apply Extra Long and Wide Curlformers to long hair and the variety of looks you can achieve once you’ve created a mane of cascading curls!

Mark cliped back his model’s hair and misted each section with a water-spray before applying Electric Smoothing Cream and then a Curlformer.  Once all the Curlformers were in place, hair was dried using a hood dryer.  When the hair was completely dry, it was left to cool before removing the Curlformers.

Mark then ran his fingers through the resulting soft spiral curls to loosen them, before brushing through to create volume and waves.

Soft romantic curls created using the Long and Extra Wide Curlformers

We thought you’d like to see how we created some of the gorgeous looks at our recent Curlformers photo-shoot, which was styled by top stylist Mark Woolley, owner of Electric Hairdressing.  You can recreate this look at home using the Long and Extra Wide Curlformers.

We’ll be uploading the step-by-step videos to our YouTube channel soon and we can’t wait to share them with you!

Clip the Styling Hook together and thread the Curlformer on to the hook

Make sure you apply Curlformers to damp, freshly washed hair or use a water spray and mist each section as you go along.  If you have thick, coarse hair, apply some Electric Smoothing Cream to create a smooth defined curl.

Starting at the nape of the neck, section hair and clip back.  Take small sections and apply the size Curlformer you have chosen to create your curls.  If you want tight spirals, use the narrow Curlformers and if you want a looser curl use the wide Curlformers.  If you want more of a wave, use the Long and Extra Wide Curlformers.

Section damp hair, clip back and apply Curlformers. The pink Curlformer curls one way and the yellow Curlformer curls in the opposite direction to give you a more natural-looking curl.

As you can see, the Curlformers were packed in to the hair to create a mass of tumbling waves but you don’t have to apply as many as this, you can take bigger sections of hair and add less, or you can just add a few here and there to create texture and interest.

Once hair was completely dry, the Curlformers were removed and teased into these gorgeous different styles.  This is how your curls might look as soon as you remove the Long and Extra Wide Curlformers:

As you remove the Long and Extra Wide Curlformers, the curls will bounce back into place!

Curls were loosened by running fingers through the hair to create this soft romantic style.

You can take your curls and pile them on-top of your head or as we did, just simply style to one side:

Clip your curls and waves to one side for an on-trend style.

Gently brush through and mist with hairspray to create this sophisticated style.

It couldn’t be easier to create these looks and because Curlformers use a ‘wash and set’ technique, they’re ideal on curl-resistant hair and will create longer-lasting curls without having to use damaging heat styling irons!

The calm before the madness! The Curlformers team prepping hair prior to the opening of Pro Hair Live in Manchester.

The Curlformers stand at Professional Hairdresser Live in Manchester was positively mobbed last weekend!  We were overwhelmed by the enthusiastic response, which saw us sell out of our best-selling Extra Long and Wide Styling Kits and Long and Extra Wide Styling Kits on the first day!   These are ideal for creating today’s modern long curly hair styles and soft beach waves.  Thankfully we were able to re-stock early the next day, with the help of our brilliant warehouse and fulfilment team. There was also a great response to the beach waves you can achieve when perming with Curlformers and we were inundated with requests to do in-salon demonstrations!  For more information, email sales@curlformers.com.

Professional Hairdresser Live, which was staged at Manchester Central on 1-2 April was a resounding success with stylists flocking to the show from all over the region.  As well as being able to see all the latest products, visitors were treated to an awesome line-up of some of the nation’s greatest celebrity crimpers including Nicky Clarke, Andrew Collinge, Errol Douglas and Jamie Stevens who came along to motivate and inspire with stories about their success and to demonstrate some of the latest cutting and styling techniques that have helped them scoop some of those top awards.

We’re looking forward to next year’s show and are preparing for some other key trade events around the world in the meantime!

Sell out for Curlformers at Professional Hairdresser Live exhibition!

We’ve had an exciting time here in London at a photo-shoot to create our spring/summer collection, which we know you’re going to love!  Top stylist and award-winning salon owner Mark Woolley from Electric Hairdressing styled the hair and created a variety of looks, showing how you can start with a mane of spiral curls and brush through for loose waves and sexy volume.  Over the next couple of weeks we’ll be posting a series of gorgeous images, step-by-step guides and video demos showing you how to recreate the looks and spring into summer with Curlformers!  Here are some pictures to give you a sneak preview of the treat we have in store.

Permanent waving looks set for a revival as Curlformers help to create soft beach-waves!

Professional stylists looking for new and exciting ways to boost revenue and attract new clients to the salon will be interested to hear that you can use your favourite permanent waving solution with Curlformers, to create long-lasting beach-waves.  In a challenging economic climate, this is a really effective way of adding an exciting new service to your salon menu.

London salon owner, Karine Jackson, who created this fab head of cascading curls on a recent Curlformers photo-shoot, tells us she has been getting some great results using Curlformers to create longer-lasting ‘permanent’ waves.

Permanent waving looks set for a revival as Curlformers help to create long-lasting soft beach-waves!

Curlformers are so versatile, you can use them to create all of these different special occasion looks!  We used a combination of Extra Long and Wide Curlformers for a tighter spiral curl like this look:

A simple and easy to achieve style! Remove Curlformers and gently run fingers through curls. Accessorise with flowers or clips to suit the occasion!

and use Long and Extra Wide Curlformers for a looser wave or style like these:

Apply Long and Extra Wide Curlformers root-to-tip to give volume and loose waves

Apply Long and Extra Wide Curlformers to smaller sections of hair to create volume at the root and glossy long-lasting waves around the bottom section. Accessorise with a diamante clip.

To create body, volume and foundation for your style – whether you’re going for an updo, down-do and spiral curls or loose waves around the bottom, apply Curlformers from root-to-tip, to damp, freshly washed hair.  Make sure it’s completely dry before you remove your Curlformers.  Smooth with a brush at the parting and tease curls and waves into place with your fingers.

Because you’re using a ‘wash and set’ technique to create your curls and waves, you’ll find they last longer and you probably won’t need to use any styling products because this method produces glossy, smooth defined curls.  If you have curl-resistant hair, try taking smaller sections and use the Long and Wide or Extra Long and Wide Curlformers to create a tighter, longer-lasting curl.

Once you have the foundations in place, you can style as you choose into a loose elegant downdo or more sophisticated updo and semi-updo like these.  Accessorise to suit the occasion and use clip-in hair extensions to add volume and ring the changes!
