According to the hair and beauty experts at www.cosmopolitan.co.uk, curls were everywhere at LFW, heralding the return of the perm but with a modern ‘digital’ twist! If you don’t want to have a perm, or use damaging heat styling irons, they recommend Curlformers as the next best thing! Read the full story below.

We’re in a spin cycle this spring as the perm returns – with a difference!

Marc Jacobs’ spring/summer ‘11 catwalk has confirmed the perm’s return – models sported curls that bounced down the runway and it looked fresh, fun and a far cry from an 80s hair ‘mare.

If you like the look and want to ride the wave you might want to book in for the new Digital Perm. The innovative curling technique fresh from Japan uses a refined chemical process along with digitally controlled thermal heating. Like permanent straightening which was huge last year, this treatment leaves your tresses smoother and shinier plus you can choose the kind of curl you want, from corkscrew to boho waves or retro curls.

You can book an appointment now at Eleven, Mayfair (020 7491 2390), or at a salon nationwide from April.

SNEAK A LOOK AT THE BEAUTY TRENDS FOR AW11!

If the thought of a perm is too scary you can easily cheat the curl without causing heat damage. Curlformers are the new generation of hair rollers – they come in a variety of lengths and widths which you use in damp hair, cover with the soft hood attachment and blow dry, or leave to set naturally. While the different sizes can give lots of different curly effects we think it’s best for super spirals a la spring’s perm trend.

And the hero products to boost your bounce? It has to be Aveda’s brilliant Be Curly collection. The new Be Curly Style-Prep (£18) banishes frizz and really enhances curl definition – don’t go for a spin without it!

If you need a reason to change your look, the start of another year is as good as any! The low-down from the catwalks is that 2010 will see soft luxurious curls continuing to give straight hair a run for its money so for all you fashionistas out there, the must-have styling aid for creating the most gorgeous glossy waves is Curlformers (of course!). But don’t just take our word for it, have a look at some of the great You Tube videos demonstrating how easy they are to use and read some of the glowing testimonials and blog links from our website.

Top tips!

Always apply Curlformers to damp hair and leave in for as long as possible! If you want to liven up your straight hair without going for full-on corkscrew curls, try applying a few Curlformers at random, or to create a more contemporary style on long hair apply Curlformers part-way down the length of your hair! They are SO versatile.

Remember, everyone has a different experience with Curlformers. Before you buy, ask yourself the following three simple questions to determine the best size Curlformer for you:

What type of curls do you want? Tight and spiral or big and loose?

What is the length of your hair?

What is the texture of your hair?

To achieve tighter spirals on thick straight hair…

We recommend that you use the Long and Wide Curlformers and apply them to small sections of hair. And yes, of course it means you will need more Curlformers, but as a one-off investment it’ll be worth it!

To achieve tighter spirals on thick, naturally curly hair…

We also recommend you use the Long and Wide Curlformers but suggest you try applying them to slightly bigger sections of hair.

If in doubt, please email us, and don’t forget to tell us what type of curl you want to achieve, and the length and texture of your hair and we’ll get back to you asap with our recommendations!

Top Products!

Top products to use with your Curlformers include Alterna’s Life Solutions Curls Shape Activator – it can be used with or without heat to add hold but it’s not as firm as a mousse and it increases elasticity and shine. For black hair try Mizani Foam Wrap, which balances moisturising shea butter with strengthening ceramide to provide body, bounce and control.

But before you do anything PLEASE watch our demo video as it’s packed with hints and tips to help you get the best from your Curlformers and a glamorous mane of cascading curls!
