Rochelle Humes started her career in the pop group S Club Juniors before becoming one-fifth of The Saturdays. After that, she jumped into the world of radio hosting and TV presenting.
Yet, it was having children that the turning point came for her. It was time for a personal transformation. Growing up with naturally curly hair, she often found herself hunting out methods to achieve poker straight locks, desperate to follow in the footsteps of her straight-haired friends.
But in December 2017, she decided enough was enough and set out to embrace her natural hair. Motivated by her two daughters – Alaia-Mai and Valentina – who have the same beautiful curls she does, Rochelle wants to unite the curl community. Documenting her transition back to curly hair on her Instagram feed using the hashtag #CurlsLikeUsTransformation, she also champions other curly haired women via her account @curlslikeus.
In fact, Rochelle has so much passion for the topic now that she recently brought out a book, a joyful and fun story about embracing differences and loving yourself from head to toe. The Mega Magic Hair Swap is all about accepting and celebrating curly hair. A brilliant story of self-love, Rochelle wants to educate kids when they’re young to try to build their self-esteem and sense of self.’
She knows hair is a big deal and can affect how you feel about yourself. That’s why she wants women just like her to stop chasing what they aren’t and start loving what nature gave them.
